    DEPENDABLE

For over 25 years, Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC) has delivered solid, dependable results in projects down the street and around the world. Initial acceptance was based more on faith than fact, but conclusive tests now quantify the clear benefits of this 3-dimensional concrete reinforcement system. With the increasing acceptance of FRC came the development of new fibers that contributed even more benefits and value to the concrete.

    DURABLE

FRC is more durable concrete. Why? Fibers increase the service life of the concrete by:

    1. Modifying plastic shrinkage cracking and drying shrinkage cracking
    2. Increasing impact resistance, surface abrasion resistance, and fatigue strength
    3. Reducing permeability

    PROFITABLE

When fibers replace the old standard temperature-shrinkage reinforcement, WWF, there is a significant saving in time, labor, and costs. Now that the codes and specifications require that the WWF be placed on permanent supports within the upper half of the cross-section of slabs-on-ground, the cost and time saved as well as the increased profit potential in adding fibers to the mix rather than working in the wire are even more significant!

    VARIETY

Fibers can do more than just replace WWF. As noted above there are now a number of consensus test methods that can be used to identify and quantify the contributions of the various types of fibers to the concrete matrix. The menu of fibers includes microsynthetic fibers, macrosynthetic fibers and blends of the two plus a selection of steel fibers.

This wide selection of viable fiber types allows the code bodies, government agencies and project engineers to select the best fiber for specific applications. ABC Polymer Industries encourages the engineer to determine the exact parameters that are most important in the immediate application. There is no “one fiber fits all” when it comes to selecting fibers.
