• ABC Polymer Delivers Macrosynthetic Fiber System

    January 24, 2012

ABC Polymer Industries has developed three Macrosynthetic Fibers, each exhibiting its own well-defined engineering properties in the concrete composite.

Macro Pro™, developed for the precast market, is a highly modified fibrillated tape, in which the main fibrils have been increased in cross section well beyond conventional fibrillated products. Due to its improved configuration, MacroPro delivers enhanced mechanical bonding within the concrete and a measurably higher level of post-first crack performance as the fibers actually carry the load across a crack created by an externally applied load.

FiberForce 650™, developed solely for use as secondary post-first crack reinforcement in concrete, is a tape or ribbon fiber with a rectangular cross-section and has been mechanically embossed to enhance bonding.

Performance Plus DOT™ combines FiberForce 650 with MacroPro in a proprietary blend to optimize the benefits of both materials. Based on ASTM C1609 test results, Performance Plus DOT meets or exceeds the capabilities of other macrosynthetic fibers while providing excellent distribution and finishing characteristics.

Performance Plus DOT meets or exceeds the capabilities of other macrosynthetic fibers.

FiberForce 650 and Performance Plus DOT are both approved by a number of the state DOTs. All three products meet the requirements of ASTM C1116, Section 4.1.3 and Note 2.
