Precast concrete is produced from “casting” concrete into a mold or form that is then transported for use at another site. Precast concrete is most commonly used for septic tanks, utility vaults, and storm shelters. The major advantage of using fiber reinforced concrete in precast applications is that it improves the fiber's ability to blend into the concrete mixture three-dimensionally, thus a higher dynamic impact resistance. For precast products that are exposed to constant or extreme degradation, such as jersey barriers, fiber reinforcement reduces permeability and provides added impact and abrasion resistance.
